1."Hello! Stand up, please. Thank you. Sit down." Try these commands without gestures.  If the students don't remember what to do, repeat "Stand up,"  two or three times.  Your gesture doesn't have to be given to the students until they try to remember what to do.  

2."Today we will sing a song. So let us move the chairs in circle."  It's very important for the students to know the rules of activity before they start to play. However long it takes time, explain how to push the desks back and how to move the chairs in a big circle. You may draw a big circle on the chalk board.

3."Back to your seats. Look at me. This is my head."  The students are not requested to repeat the new words or to sing a song today.  They will touch the parts of the body, when they catch your words : HEAD / SHOULDERS / KNEES / TOES.

4."Touch your head. Touch your shoulders. Touch your knees. Touch your toes."   These actions will be played ; (1) all together (2) in a group (3) by a student who wishes to try.  The students will find that it's a game.  They will be excited and try to win the game.  Sometimes you will succeed in teaching new words by playing games, but, sometimes you won't. Because games are usually played too fast to catch the new words clearly.

5."I will sing a song called HEAD, SHOULDERS, KNEES, AND TOES. First,  just listen." Probably you find there are some students who can sing the song of head shoulders... They will say "sitte iru" in Japanese. Ask them "Do you know this song?" in English.

  6. "Eyes and ears and mouth and nose..." When the students touch their mouth, they must not put their fingers into mouth. Write "O-157" on the chalk board, they will easily understand what is prohibited.

7."We will watch the video."  Perhaps we don't have enough time to teach these words ; eyes, ears, mouth and nose.  The students will play as the cat plays in the video.
